To donate

AngelGownsbyjacki /An Angel Too Soon can be successful only with the generosity of people like you.  We would be honored to accept your donation of a wedding dress or sponsorship of expenses to allow us to continue to provide AngelGown burial accoutrement, free of charge, to families of pre-term babies who become Angels before they can go home.

On average, we can create anywhere from 8 to 20 AngelGown outfits from a single wedding dress.  Often, embellishments from a particular dress will appear on AngelGowns made from other dresses.  We do our best to give credit where credit is due - to the donator and to the seamstress - for the AngelGowns created.

Please understand that AngelGownsbyjacki does not have a charitable status and can not offer any form or proof of donation for tax deduction.  Again, Angel items are provided, free of charge, to the families of the Angels.

Be aware that any items received that are deemed inappropriate for transforming into Angelitems may be sold or donated at our descretion and any funds received from the sale of these items are used solely to support Angelgownsbyjacki.

Once items are donated, they will not be returned.

Should you feel that this project touches your heart and you would like to donate dresses, supplies, or wish to sponsor shipments to birthing centers or funeral homes, please refer to the sponsorship information or contact us for additional information.

We are not accepting
dress donations at this time.

To sponsor AngelGowns:

In addition to donated dresses, many other items are needed to create AngelGowns, AngelCapsAngelWraps, AngelBlankets, and Angeljewelry.

- Two gallon size zip lock bags (always needed)
- Sewing supplies (thread, needles, silk pins, etc)
- Knitting and crocheting supplies (yarn)
- Sewing machine supplies (maintenance, oil, needles, etc.)
- Embellishments (lace, ribbon, thread, needles, etc)
- Gift boxes and tissue paper (not needed at this time)
- Shipping supplies (primarily postage)

While donations of supplies is so very appreciated, most items needed are specific to our particular sewing machines and the AngelGown items that we are working on at any given time.

JoAnn Fabrics, Walmart, Hancock, Michaels, or Visa gift cards allow us to purchase the specific sewing, packing, or shipping items needed.  Regretfully, Hobby Lobby is not conveniently located for us.
  • normal packaging & shipping expenses for 20 garments is about $50
  • supplies needed to create and package each of our garments is about $3.  Supplies include thread, ribbon, cutting and sewing implements, and miscellaneous items
  • overnight shipping of an AngelPackage to a family is approximately $50
  • shipping an AngelPackage to a family with two day delivery is approximately $20
  • Each AngelPackage includes tissue paper, a white presentation box, a sentiment card, and a keepsake butterfly button

Should you wish to donate a dress, supplies, gift cards, or a cash donation (Paypal accepted) to support this project, please contact us at angelgownsbyjacki and thank you very much!   e are accepting dresses in white, off white, ecru, champagne, candlelight, etc,
however, dresses must be clean (stained is ok)
and directions below must be followed.

To donate a dress:

Remove the gown from all storage/preservation boxes.  Note: dresses that are primarily taffeta (noisy when rustled and a bit stiff) are not good candidates for transformation.

Remove any stiff netting (that really stiff stuff that makes it so poofy!)

The dress must be clean.
If it was cleaned after the event, it would not need to be cleaned again.  Be assured that we can work around any stains, damage, etc but can not accept a dirty dress (not washed or cleaned after being worn).

If your dress requires cleaning, I have found that some dry cleaners provide their services at reduced or no cost to dry clean dresses intended for AngelGowns:
  • remove the netting (as provided in the shipping instructions above) prior to delivering to the dry cleaner
  • advise that the dress does not need to be packed for preservation
  • advise that the dress will be donated to AngelGowns
  • allow the dry cleaner a longer period to clean the dress
Of course, a free or reduced price is determined by your dry cleaner.

As an alternative, you may wish to clean your dress at home ( http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-a-Wedding-Gown ).

I have also had very good results with Woolite in a high efficiency front loading washer (NOTE that should you choose this method, you may want to remove any long ties and hook and eye sets prior to washing.).  We would encourage hanging and air drying after washing.

Remove whatever portion of your dress you would like to retain as a keepsake.  We CAN NOT return your dress or pieces of your dress, thus remove them prior to shipping.  We can work around any portions of the dress that you wish to retain as a keepsake.

If you would like your name recorded as a donator, note your name on a card and attach the card to the dress label or zipper with a safety pin.  Without this card, your donation will not be identified with your name on the blog.  No direct emails will be sent regarding use of the donated items.  NO exceptions.

If you wish to share additional information regarding the dress and your donation, please indicate FOR SHARING on your card and a photo and/or short story about your dress (25 words or so).

Please understand that unless your information is attached to your donation
as indicated, your dress will not be identified with your name.  NO EXCEPTIONS

Include $10 with your dress... These donations allow us to continue to ship AngelGown items to institutions and families free of charge.  Donations can be also accepted in check or thru Paypal.

Follow our blog, or AngelGownsbyjacki on facebook
to ensure that you experience the Angel items created from your donation.  Individual photos of your dress or the gowns that are created from your dress WILL NOT be sent individually via email or any other manner.

Drop your donation at any of the following locations.  Please understand that we are unable to pick up donations at this time.  We must ask that you do NOT ship wedding dresses to the "DROP OFF" locations - shipping information is noted below.
  • Central Iowa DropOff location: Not currently accepting dress donations at this time.  However, hours may be subject to change)
  • Arizona Shipping/DropOff location:  Not currently accepting dress donations at this time.

To ship a donated dress, please:
(these additional steps may reduce shipping costs for you.)

Fold the gown lengthwise into half or thirds and roll or fold the dress like a sleeping bag and place in a plastic bag.  Be aware that using large 'ziplock' bags and squeezing the air out may reduce shipping costs as you will be able to use a smaller box.  Using the smalled box possible will save on shipping.  Additionally, the 'ziplock' or vacuum type bags allow us to efficiently store the dress until its transformation can occur.

Include $10 with your donation to help with the cost of shipping completed angelitems to hospitals and mortuaries.

~ Ship to:  unable to accept dresses at this time.            Phoenix, AZ 85086

NOTE:

AngelGownsbyjacki is not an official non-profit organization so we are unable to provide proof of donation for a tax deduction. Obtaining a non-profit status would cost approximately $1,500.00 and we feel that using funds donated to Angelgownsbyjacki to create and ship our Angel items is money better spent.
