Today's Progress

I have been a bit busy in my personal life the last 10 days but I got back to AngelGowns today.

I decided to step outside of my normal embellishing routine and try a few new things.

I figure that everyone's tastes vary so much...

that someone would like each one of these...

And it gets me out of my embellishment rut.

Decorated by Rochelle Lamb, Anthem
Sometimes, it seems like they all start looking alike...   and that's not good.

Doing different things allows me to use some of the button that my brother donated to AngelGowns,

And I can use some bits and pieces of lace and ribbons that need to be used up.

And every AngelGown outfit is special and unique....  just as every Angel is special and unique.

Donations to the Angels

While donations continue to come in from the article on my hometown's KCCI-TV, cash and gift cards over and above the $1 per dress requested were received from Jenn Stockhill in memory of Brock, Adam and Samantha Gudenkauf, Jenae Stoterau, and Terri Simmons.  Jenn Stockhill is a repeat donator and her continued support is very much appreciated.

This amazing sewing machine, already named Alberta by her original owner, was donated for the Angels by Rae K Arthur.  I used her all day yesterday and she loves stitching on the AngelGowns.  thank you Rae!

Note:  Rae just became engaged and already has plans to donate her wedding dress to the Angelbabies.  Congratulations Rae and thank you!

On a recent road trip, I took a crocheted blanket that was already started, some yarn, and size 13 knitting needles with me.

2 strands of red heart yarn on size 13 knitting needles
During the trip, I finished the crocheted blanket and seven knitted blankets for the Angels.

1 strand of white red heart yarn and 1 strand of novelty yarn on size 13 needles
Because the knitted blankets are a little thicker due to the large needle I used, but I am very short of blankets and needed to finish some quickly.

1 strand of terry cloth yarn and size 13 needles
I like the thinner blankets because the thicker blankets, of course, take more room in the shipping box and I have to either send fewer blankets or send fewer AngelGowns.

1 strand caron soft and 1 strand novelty yarn on size 13 needles
However, using the larger needles allowed me to finish several badly needed blankets in the few days of the trip.

I am dangerously close to running out of blankets.  If you are interested in assisting in providing AngelBlankets, please consult the "Generous Hands" tab and scroll down to AngelBlankets.

Happy Birth Day Angelbaby Brock

Jenn Stockhill contacted me a few days ago about donating her wedding dress to AngelGowns.   Jenn wanted to donate her dress on March 17th, St Patrick's Day.   Jenn indicated that St Patrick's Day would have been her AngelBaby Brock's 7th birth day.

Jenn's friends and family also wanted to celebrate Brock's birth day....   Jenn provided me with four wedding dresses and a gift card.

The vintage dress (right) has a full lace faux cape with a face framing lace hood.

The beading on this dress (left) is a peach/rose/pink and the dress has a train.

The vintage (right) has actual dried flower arrangements at the dropped shoulders and dropped waist.

Jenn's dress has a sheer overlay with yards and yards of lace and beading.

Jenn also gave me some ribbon that she requested be attached to some of the Angel items made from her donations in remembrance of Brock.
